Metrics
Metrics are values that Smart Communications calculates based on available data. You can use metrics in the following ways:
- Display them in the Customer Profile;
- Use them as filters in the Segment Builder;
- Calculate segment metrics.
The table below provides explanations for some of the metrics used in Smart Communications.
| Metric | Description |
| Number of receipts | Number of non-cancelled receipts. |
| Number of orders | Number of non-cancelled orders. |
| Average receipt amount | Total value of all non-cancelled receipts divided by the number of non-cancelled receipts. |
| Median receipt amount | Median value of the receipt amount across all non-cancelled receipts. |
| Average number of items per receipt | Total number of items in all non-cancelled receipts divided by the number of non-cancelled receipts. |
| Category penetration in receipts | Measures how frequently a product category appears in a customer’s receipts. Calculated per category as the ratio of receipts containing at least one item from the category to the customer’s total number of receipts. The value ranges from 0 to 1. For example, a value of 0.5 means the category appears in every second receipt. |
| Number of visits | Number of distinct days on which the customer had at least one non-cancelled receipt. For example, if a customer had 2 receipts on one day and 1 receipt on another day within a month, the number of visits is 2. |
| Cumulative Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV) | CLTV is calculated as the sum of all non-cancelled receipts over the last N months. The number of months (N) is configurable in System Settings under the parameter RFM Segment Calculation Period. |
| Date of birth | Full birth date including year (e.g., “Date of birth = May 1, 2000” applies only to customers born exactly on that date). |
| Birthday | Birth date without the year. For example, “Birthday = May 1” applies to all customers born on May 1, regardless of birth year. |
| Birth month | The month in which the customer was born. |
| Birth year | The year in which the customer was born. |
| Age | Customer’s age in full years. |
